3. Quality youth programming in youth service organizations
Philosophy: Youth are very resourceful, bright and creative individuals. We believe youth should have a voice in the community, the government and in the organizations where they are served. This is achieved through several key core strategies:
Positive Youth Development - an approach to working with youth that defines (outcomes) based on capacities, strength and development needs of youth.
The Development Asset Approach – this approach is a framework that focuses on external structures, relationships, and activities that create a positive environment for young people.
Youth Participation – this approach is very important to the success of any youth program. It will allow youth to be involved in decision making and planning of activities. It gives them a sense of ownership. |
